Automagic EV charging , the best possible. Simply great.

A2Z as a online store has served me well for the Emporia charger and Typhoon plug. Good shop.

Our utility (PGE California) practices legal piracy, burn the town malfesance. At 4-5x more expensive than nearby Sacramento, or Reno (12cent), our EV rate 50c to 65c/kw hr. They short us 200kw-hr each month on export with fine print on page 3 of 15 pg NEM2 bill. Really annoying PGE portal couldn't even show your usage history or any real time. Just get a bill. Smart reader LCD can't be used for 'totals' either it won't show both channels, so 'trust us'. WTF.

Best way to optimize EV charging is with this Emporia setup. Works fantastic, simply awesome. With either Ford Lightning or Tesla Y, we use the Emporia charger with 'solar excess' settings. When spa kicks on & runs, or deep well pump or other big loads come up, the charger steps down charging and keeps the download at 1kw or less - taylors the charge to sun output. Over course of sunny day, this optimization gets the max out of 8kw solar arrays into the EV tank and minimizes our utility cost. we also have a separate DC solar trailer 2.4kw for backup charge with large battery, as off grid secondary. Emporia charger automation really works. This will pay for itself in 3-4 months by maxing our car charging while minimizing the grid download. Emporia has schedules & other 'priority' automating routine for other large loads if you want to home automate multiple power hungry needs. Tech support was spot on helpful with our tricky Vue2 monitor install on our main meter (that was not for noobs, hands on 200A hot installation). Emporia EV Charger is brain simple install on 14-50 NEMA outlet. If takes over 1/2 hr, you need a new handyman.

Two engineer, pilots, and power savvy household with multiple solar & aerospace power project experience, been driving EV quite awhile. The Emporia EV charger setup with Vue energy monitor is far away the best for our need. & No, this is not a paid for plug, you're kidding right?
We've had 5 or 6 various chargers, Juice Boxes, Duosida portable, Tesla, ChargePoint, Autel (also quite nice charger), and a Vevor (Tuya compatible) portable - seen it all.

Seams Good

I upgraded from the standard charger Ford gave me. This is 5x's more heavy duty. Just set up and charged one time so far. Seems good. I am curious how it will do when i run a new circuit to boost its output.
