- Safety and Security: The adapter features a single locking mechanism : The top latch ensures proper interlock between the adapter and the vehicle's charge port. The top locking mechanism (CCS1 latch) controls through a set of springs the NACS side locking pin. If the adapter is locked by the charge port's locking mechanism, the NACS connector can't be removed from the adapter.
- Protection : IP54 (mating) & IP67 (enclosing).

For added safety, the A2Z Typhoon Plug incorporates two temperature sensor switches. The first sensor derates the charging process upon reaching a certain temperature, while the second sensor halts charging, the temperature are strategically placed within the adapter. Charging can resume once the temperature normalizes and the adapter is reconnected. It's worth noting that during real-life testing, thermal shutdown was never reached.

My friend Erik recommended this to me, as an electrical engineer I know he researches his electrical purchases carefully so I didn’t think twice before picking it up. I’m glad I did because I can’t stress how much I love my Typhoon!!
I’m currently on a cross country road trip to visit my 93 year old grandmother in Victoria, BC - travelling from Southwestern Ontario there are still many spots in Northern Ontario where CCS charging is fairly far apart, with several locations only having only a single DC charging location in town. Having access to the Supercharger network has calmed my fears of “getting stuck” immensely, in fact - thanks to the monthly Supercharger membership, which reduces the per kWh rate - I’ve charged almost exclusively with the Supercharger network across Canada and after 30+ charges so far I’ve had *zero* issues.
The unit is a heavy, solid metal, construction which feels more than capable of holding up to long term abuse and, even after an hour of fast charging, is barely warm to the touch when unplugging it.
If you drive one of the Supercharger supported EVs (I drive a 2023 Chevy Bolt) then I simply can’t recommend this adapter enough - you won’t be sorry picking one up!
The adapter worked perfectly straight out of the box with no issues on the physical connection (love the automatic locking mechanism) or communication with the Supercharger, and the charging speed ramped up quickly.
So nice to have the peace of mind being able to access the Supercharger network of needed, especially if planning a longer road trip.
Tres rapide et produit semble de qualité
The Tesla superchargers aren’t fully open to Toyota vehicles yet, but the ones that are have the built in adapters for CCS EVs. I decided to use this adapter instead of Tesla’s built in adapter at currently compatible stations. Just to make sure it works well since the Tesla non CCS stations will be open to Toyota soon, and I’ll need an adapter to use them at that point. This adapter works great! Synced up instantly and plugs in smoothly and easily. It seats well and charges at full speed.
I use my A2Z Typhoon Pro on my Chevy Equinox EV almost once a week.As i live in an apartment and not able to have home charging. Also comes in clutch on road trips!
